Dear Stephen,

Your work is so fabulous. I know that many of my friends and colleagues respect and admire you for the work that you do as a teacher, conductor and core member of the San Francisco Symphony. I personally loved the Ciranda das Siete Notas back in October. As a former double reed player myself, it’s always exciting to see a rarely-featured instrument take the spotlight, and the Villa-Lobos was a great way to do so.

I know some of your musicians in Symphony Parnassus absolutely love working with you, and it’s easy to see why:

I’ve been seeing you around town recently – occasionally making eye contact, even, as we pass on the sidewalk in Hayes Valley. I once almost said “hi” to you, but my nerves got the best of me – you are such a legend in this town. I’m happy just to be a fangirl for now.
